July 19th, 1888 : the idea of a dedicated space

The Director of the Faculty of Sciences to the Dean of the University
Kingdom of Italy
University of Padua

Padua, July 19th, 1888
During the assembly of the Faculty, held on the past 28th of June, our distinguished Professor G. Veronese pointed out that, among the University buildings, there are not two rooms that could be permanently used to store the higher geometry body models and, at the same time, be used as a workshop for the students, who must learn how to build them. Moreover, Professor E. Padova pointed out that we don’t have a room where the conferences of the Mathematics Section can be held.
The Faculty Council, considering that the above observations of the Professors are correct, gave me the task to inform Your Excellency, hoping that you may satisfy our request.
With sincere respect,
The Director
G. Canestrini
