He was the predecessor of Giuseppe Veronese. Veronese introduced a complete different view on algebraic geometry.

He started a workshop to design and build mathematical models at the Institute of Mathematics of Munich in Bavaria. He was a mentor for Giuseppe Veronese in 1880 and 1881.

He built metal models including two models with a metal frame and silk threads that now belong to the collection of mathematical models of Padua University.
