Work published by the brothers Carlo e Agostino Perini, journalists and typographers from Trentino, probably between 1854 and 1871.

It was divided into four files referred to as "centuria" (parts), in turn divided into 10 "dispensa" (sections) and was to include a total of 400 plates reproduced in colour with the technique of physiotypia or physiography. The copy kept at the Library of the Botanical Garden is limited to the first “dispensa” of the first “centuria” and therefore contains 10 plates.

After the second centuria, the title of the work changes to Flora dell'Italia settentrionale e del Tirolo meridionale rappresentata colla fisiotipia.

Observing the plates in person makes it possible to see quite distinctly the areas of the image where there is a greater amount of ink, due to the fact that those particular areas of the impression of the plant had left a deeper groove on the metal plate used as the print matrix.

The Latin scientific name of the plant, the name in Italian and some information about the area and the type of soil in which it grows, its origin and its possible uses are included in each plate.
