Eugenio Turri (1927-2005) was one of the leading scholars of the Italian landscape, documenting its tumultuous changes in the second half of the 20th century as a photographer, writer and geographer. During his time at the De Agostini Geographical Institute, Turri travelled all over the world, paying particular attention to the themes of nomadism, desertification, and the relationship between man and the environment, between the North and South of the world. An archive of over 30,000 images preserves the memory of his travels and observations, a heritage that this exhibition invites us to rediscover and appreciate.
Below is a story map that recounts Turri's life and travels. Through his photographs, we retrace the places where the geographer lived, studied and worked, discovering his personal and professional journey.
